Direct trip. The buses leave Arequipa at 8:00 pm and 8:45 pm. The companies that offer this service are Oltursa (bed and semi-bed buses) and Transzela (bed buses).
Travel with a stopover. Another option is to make a stopover in
Puno, on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca, where you can visit the famous
Touristic bus. There are no direct tourist buses from Arequipa to Cuzco, but you can travel from Arequipa to Puno with 4M Express, and/or from Puno to Cusco with Wonder Peru Expedition, Inka Express or PeruRail Titicaca (by train).
Macchu Picchu. It is one of the new seven wonders of the modern world, and one of
the most visited destinations in South America. Admission requires the
accompaniment of an official guide, in small groups of no more than 16 people.
You can choose adventure and do the legendary Inca Trail, a walk that lasts 4
days or reach the ruins directly, taking the train that departs from Cusco, and
visit Machu Picchu in one day.
Sacsayhuamán. This impressive fortress houses numerous ceremonial temples and
other constructions that stand out for their architecture, based on the
insertion of huge carved rocks, in a work of engineering without equal. The
Inti Raymi festival takes place at this location during the winter solstice.
Tambomachay. Also known as the "Inca baths", this construction has
an amazing underground water system. It is located a few minutes from Cusco and
access is included in the tourist ticket, which is the pass to see
the ruins of Cusco and the Sacred Valley.
Rainbow Mountain. Also called Winicunca mountain, or mountain of seven colors, this amazing natural expression of color is located 3 and a half hours from Cusco. From its 5,200m you can see spectacular views. The climb is recommended only for travelers who are acclimatized.
Restaurants. Do not miss the empanadas and tamales from the San Pedro market and
other delicacies from Peruvian cuisine. The most daring travelers can try cuy,
a tradition of Arequipa origin. Being a very popular tourist destination, Cusco
offers a wide variety of options in cafes, bars, and restaurants.
Accommodation. There are different lodging options according to your budget. It
is recommended to spend one or two nights in Cusco to get used to the altitude,
especially if you plan to trek.
